Chinese Medicine is an ancient system of medicine for preserving health and treating disease that treats the body, mind and spirit as a whole. Chinese medical treatment primarily consists of Acupuncture treatment, herbal medicine, and nutritional therapy.

HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK:

The purpose of the needles is to regulate the flow of energy throughout the body. This energy is called Qi, and is thought to be the basic life force that pulses through every living thing. The Qi travels in pathways, called meridians. If the Qi is deficient, it results in lack of proper functioning of the organ. If the Qi is blocked or stuck in a meridian, it results in pain, masses, or inflammation.

Along the Acupuncture meridians are the acupuncture points. Knowing the traditional functions of the Acupuncture points ( there are approximately 700 hundred in the body), I insert sterile, stainless steel needles into the properly chosen Acupuncture points. The needles are no thicker than a hair shaft and do not hurt.

Depending on the diagnosis, each treatment either strengthens the organ to improve its functioning, or sedates to unblock stagnant energy, and relieve pain. This allows the energy to flow freely again, and allows for healing.
You will leave feeling relaxed and energized.

WHAT DOES CHINESE MEDICINE TREAT AND WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE:

Since traditional Chinese medicine was the only system of medicine in China until recent modern times, we treat everything except broken bones and surgical emergencies. However from our clinical experience we provide very effective treatments for:

  • all gynecological imbalances, including infertility
  • acute and chronic pain syndromes
  • hormone issues, including adrenals and thyroid
  • anxiety and depression
  • gastro-intestinal disturbances
  • chronic fatigue
  • weight management
  • immune system dysfunctions

An initial course of Acupuncture treatments may range from 4-12 sessions, each lasting about 45 minutes, while you relax in a warm, softly lit room. At the start of treatment acupuncture is usually performed once or twice a week. Once health has improved, treatment may be bi monthly, monthly, or seasonally.
